THE BRITISH EMPIRE AND EXETER By Dr.Todd Gray MBE
Talk | Seated
Dr. TODD GRAY MBE: A historian mainly of Devon who has published widely on various aspects of the county’s history. His most recent publication is Voices of Empire in Exeter.
TALK: The British Empire permeated everyday life in Exeter as it did the rest of the country. This lecture looks at the imperial experiences of some 200 Exonians, in their own words, over 400 years from the late 1500s onwards. Some accounts are drawn from former colonies but others are concerned with the Empire within the city itself.
